The Yahoo! Mail team has been gathering feedback on what would make the email service better. As it turns out, users have been asking for Yahoo! Calendar to open as a tab. The Yahoo! Mail team has listened to all you Yahoo! Mail users out there, and decided to implement this request.

“I have some really exciting changes to share about the all-new Yahoo! Calendar that are based on the feedback you’ve been sharing with us. Your top request on our Yahoo! Calendar suggestion board was to make the Calendar open as a tab in the All-New version of Yahoo! Mail. Well, your wish is our command, and over the coming weeks we will begin to roll this change out to everyone,” announced Program Manager with Yahoo! Mail, Andrew Molyneux.

Andrew Molyneux highlighted some other bits and pieces that will be modified in the near future. For example the month, search and calendar column from the left hand side will be an expandable tab located underneath the “Today” button. The development team at Yahoo! decided to implement this change in order to “free up some space so the calendar will fit nicely and neatly inside a tab in the All-New Yahoo! Mail.”

"So when’s all this happening? The change with the expandable tab is rolling out now and you should be seeing it in the next few days. Adding the Calendar to a tab in the All-New mail will be coming soon after. You have to be using the All New Calendar to get all these great features, so if you have not already switched to the new Yahoo! Calendar, you can do that hee,” added Molyneux.

Just to push you to make the switch, here are some other things you can do with the new Yahoo! Calendar:
  • Share your calendar
  • Sync your calendar over-the-air with your iPhone or iPod ouch
  • You can hide or display multiple calendar or layers
  • There’s new search tool that you can use with Calendar and Notepad
  • To quickly add events and other things, you can use the handy right click menu
