After CCleaner and Speccy, Defraggler Now Supports Windows 7 SP1 As Well
As you may remember, last month, Piriform, the privately owned UK software developer dedicated to creating top quality applications for Windows, updated its CCleaner application to include support for Windows 7 SP1 (Service Pack 1). CCleaner 3.04 with support for Windows 7 SP1, was rolled out to the public on the 24th of February. As Piriform explained, the update improves “the file cleaning and the registry cleaning power of CCleaner.”
At the start of the month, on the 1st of March 2011, Piriform updated Speccy as well. Speccy 1.09, just like CCleaner 3.04, provides support for Windows 7 SP1. Piriform explained that with this update it focused on improving hardware detection and squashing a few minor bugs Speccy users reported.
Earlier this week, on the 14th of March, Piriform updated its Defraggler application as well. Defraggler has been updated to version 2.03 and the update brings with it, you’ve guessed it, support for Windows 7 SP1. If you’re on Windows 7 and you did not get SP1, you should. Windows 7 SP1 comes with security updates, stability updates, and performance updates. Microsoft describes SP1 as “an important update that includes previously released security, performance, and stability updates for Windows 7. SP1 also includes new improvements to features and services in Windows 7, such as improved reliability when connecting to HDMI audio devices, printing using the XPS Viewer, and restoring previous folders in Windows Explorer after restarting.”

- Fixed bug that could cause shutdown to fail with Freespace Defrag.
- Improved results in Search tab when 'Include non-fragmented files' is checked.
- Better support for very long non-English strings.
- Better keyboard support in the File List.
- You can now navigate tabs using Ctrl-Tab.
- Improved support for non-standard Windows colors.
- New extensions to be moved to the end of the drive are now checked by default.
- Better handling of delimiters in exclude list.
- Minor tweaks and fixes.
