Security company AVG Technologies has recently rolled out AVG TuneUp, a free app that will help keep your Android-powered device running smoothly.

Get longer battery life, enjoy a more stable device, and squeeze more performance out of your Android – these are the main reasons why you should get AVG TuneUp, the free app that AVG Technologies rolled out to the public earlier this month. You can use the application to fine tune your Android, and consequently get it to run faster and smoother. You can also use the app to free up internal memory and to monitor mobile data usage.

AVG TuneUp has 4 main tools to offer to Android users: Task Killer, Battery Consumption, Data Usage Monitor, and Storage Space Manager. Let’s quickly take a closer look at these features, shall we?

Task Killer
Apps or services that run in the background slow down your device by consuming much needed resources. Apps that are no longer needed can even cause your Android device to freeze. This feature lets you delete unwanted apps, shows which apps you use the least, and lets you know how much memory apps use.

Battery Consumption
It’s quite annoying to run out of battery – and smartphones do have the frustrating habit of rapidly eating up all the battery. This feature monitors apps and tells you how much battery they eat up, lets you see which utilities and services are draining your battery, and lets you set an alert to let you know when you're about to run out of juice.

Data Usage Monitor
With this feature you can see how much data your apps use and you can set up mobile data alerts. You can set up alerts for when you’re getting close to your mobile data limit, alerts based on usage frequency, on data size, and more.

Storage Space Manager
Not having enough space to store files is a big nuisance – one that is addressed by AVG TuneUp via this feature. You can see how much space you’re using, how much space you have left, and how much space apps and services take up. With this valuable information in hand you can delete the things you don’t want and keep the ones you do.

AVG TuneUp is available for free on Google’s Play Store.
