AVG Technologies, company that specializes in providing antivirus and internet security protection to home and business users, announced that it has a new Chief Operations Officer. AVG Technologies’ new COO is Clent Richardson, who has more than 30 years of experience under his belt, experience that he will use to “take the company to the next level.” He will of course be working with AVG’s top notch leadership team to achieve this goal.

“We have been laser focused on building a leadership team that will continue to grow the company by driving excellent products via innovative business models, “ commented JR Smith, CEO of AVG. “Clent is an important addition to our team, as he brings a wealth of strategic and operational skills that will add value and have impact across our global business.”

Clent Richardson graduated from Antioch University in Ohio and successfully completed executive management programs at GTE, Apple and Deutsche Telekom. Prior to joining the AVG team he served as:
- Vice President of Worldwide Developer Relations and Worldwide Solutions Marketing with Apple
- Supervisory board member, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, and Chairman of T Mobile Retail, part of T Mobile UK.
- Chief Marketing Officer with Nortel
- Chief Marketing Officer with TiVo
- Supervisory board member, President and CEO of Immersion Corporation.

“AVG is at a very interesting juncture in its growth and it is exciting to be joining a company that is visionary in both the products they create and business models they follow. AVG has changed the way the market thinks about the freemium model and they are poised to move this model to its next generation. More importantly, AVG is passionate about the work they do; AVG has created one of the world's largest anti-virus software customer base, and has delivered powerful security technologies that are well-respected in the market. The potential and growth opportunities for this business are extraordinary and I am pleased to join JR and the executive leadership team in taking AVG through the next level of growth and beyond,” said Richardson, who will be based in Prague from now on.
