Back in July, Avast announced that it wants to purchase rival security company AVG for $1.3 billion. The acquisition went through all the requirements and is now complete. Vince Steckler, Avast Software CEO, just announced that.
"Today, I am proud to announce the completion of the acquisition of a majority stake in AVG,” said Steckler. "So we will operate as a single company as of Monday, October 3, 2016. I would like to extend a warm welcome to the AVG team, AVG customers, as well as carrier and channel partners, and I am eager to tell you about our plans for the next few months."
Steckler’s announcement was accompanied by an infographic that highlights Avast’s major milestones, from today and going back to 1989 when Avast was founded.
