AOL Pulls the Plug on TUAW, Its Apple Blog

TUAW (The Unofficial Apple Weblog) used to be a great place to find stories, rumors, reviews, tutorials, and other content about Apple and Apple products. I say “used to” because TUAW will cease publication on Tuesday, February 3, 2015.

Why is TUAW shutting down? The answer is simple: TUAW is part of AOL; AOL is in the midst of a major reorganization; as part of this reorganization, AOL is pulling the plug on any media property that has been deemed to be underperforming and reallocating all resources to more successful media properties.

“We have a large, loyal following of readers and we still have the fire in us when it comes to our passion for Apple products. However, TUAW is a small cog in a big machine -- AOL -- and our niche offering did not fit in with the corporate direction for larger content providers such as Engadget and TechCrunch,” explained TUAW Editor Steven Sande.

TUAW was founded on December 5, 2004 and was purchased by AOL in 2005. The site will close down on February 3, 2015. It’s sad to see a trusted source for news, information and analysis about Apple and Apple products fade away like this.

On the upside, today marks a very joyous occasion for me: the news section on FindMySoft will hit 7 million views today – it’s at 6.999.778 right now. I published the first news article on FindMySoft on the 21st of October 2008. Since then I published more than 5.200 news articles, articles about all sorts of topics from the software world.

Feel free to browse through the FindMySoft news section to see the latest news from Apple, Microsoft, Kaspersky Lab, Facebook, and other big names from the software world. And don’t forget that you can get the latest FindMySoft news by subscribing to our RSS feed.

UPDATE: the view counter just passed the 7 million mark. Hooray!
