A More Compatible Yahoo! Messenger 9 Update Available
Yahoo! has just recently put out version 9.0.0.2136 of their popular instant messaging application Yahoo! Messenger 9. It has been a bumpy ride for Yahoo! Messenger 9, with numerous users reporting issues when installing, logging in, and when using the software alongside other applications (incompatibility issues). Hopefully this update will be less problematic as previous ones.
“We released an updated version of Yahoo! Messenger 9.0 (9.0.0.2136). This latest version includes fixes that should help those that were having problems installing 9.0. It should also alleviate problems that may have been caused by software conflicts with antivirus programs or add-ons like SpeedBit Video Accelerator,” explains Product Manager with Yahoo! Messenger, Sarah Bacon.
I don’t know about you, but right about now I am having a déjà vu moment. Here is what I mean: with version 9.0.0.2112 users experienced installation (the process would hang at 99%) and login problems, so Yahoo! issued the 9.0.0.2128 update. It immediately came to light that this version of Yahoo! Messenger does not play well with SpeedBit Video Accelerator and the only workaround provided at the time was to uninstall it in order for the IM client to work. Version 9.0.0.2136 will address the compatibility issue, but I am amazed to hear that there are still login problems.
Call me cynical, but I don’t actually believe the updated Yahoo! Messenger 9.0 will solve all the bugs and problems. Here on FindMySoft we have been talking about Yahoo! Messenger 9 and Windows issues ever since autumn of 2008 when Yahoo! called for YM 9 Vista testers. And since then, Sarah Bacon has come out to announce that the bugs and issues have been fixed with a new update – and each time it turns out that Yahoo! Messenger is still “wonky” as one of our readers put it. The downside is that users like Yahoo!’s instant messaging client, but instead of having to deal with YM 9 problems choose to stick with YM 8. And things are not much different with YM for Mac 3.0 Beta 4.
If you would like to get Yahoo! Messenger 9.0.0.2136, a download location is available here.
