The Star Wars Battlefront shooter will test your skills in epic multiplayer battles on Hoth, Tatooine, Endor, Sullust and Jakku. You’ll join the imperials or the rebel forces and you’ll fire blasters, drive speederbikes, ride AT-ATs, pilot X-wing or TIE fighters, and more.

If that wasn’t enough to get you excited, you’ll also have the chance to play as an iconic character from the Star Wars universe. Six iconic characters are available, each with their unique traits and skills. Let’s take a closer look at the iconic heroes and villains featured in the Battlefront action game, shall we?.

Rebel Hero and Leader, Princess Leia Organa

Princess Leia, who is renowned for her strategic mind and fearless attitude, can use defensive maneuvers as well as powerful attacks. She can use the Enhanced Squad Shield to protect against enemy fire. This shield, a stronger version of the regular Squad Shield Power Card, will come in handy if you need to defend a key area on the map.

Did you notice that Princess Leia takes out stormtroopers like its nothing in the Star Wars movies? She can take out stormtroopers with a single shot in the movies and she can do the same in the Battlefront game. Thanks to the Trooper Bane power, Princess Leia can take out stormtroopers in a single blast and deal massive damage and temporarily stun a villain character.

Princess Leia has one other power: Supply Drop. Activate it to get various power ups for rebel troops or health boosts for a hero character.

And last but not least, it must be mentioned that players who spawn next to Princess Leia will spawn as Alderaan Honor Guards.

“All these abilities provide a really powerful overall package. As Leia, you’ll be buffing, healing, providing cover, and also be on the offensive a lot. If you use her right, she could be the most powerful Hero character. So how’s that done? You should hang back and pick your ground. Use the map’s natural cover together with the Enhanced Squad Shield, and force enemies to come to you through the channels you create,” says this official presentation of Princess Leia.

The Galaxy’s Most Dreaded Bounty Hunter, Boba Fett

Boba Fett, the mysterious and deadly bounty hunter, has a special place in the hearts of many Star Wars fans who have long dreamed to use his jetpack and try his deadly weapons.

Boba Fett can prove to be a deathly force on the battlefield thanks to his mobility and arsenal. He is extremely mobile because his jetpack lets him to fly around the map. While in the air, Boba Fett can take pot shots with his EE-3 Carbine Rifle.

Boba Fett has two wrist launchers, one armed with a rocket and the other with flamethrower. The rocket launcher is great for long-range attacks while the Flame Blast attack is great for close quarters combat.

“As originally portrayed in the films, Boba Fett has a wealth of gadgets at his disposal but we only see him use a fraction of these in the films. There’s much more than the jetpack and blaster rifle going on. Boba Fett’s got a disintegrator pistol, a flame pack in one arm, rockets, dart launchers, and even lasers. So there was a lot to choose from before we wound up with the final loadout,” said DICE Senior Producer Jamie Keen in this official presentation of Boba Fett.

Legendary Smuggler Han Solo

Smuggling is a dirty business and if you live long enough to become a legend, then you’ve seen your fair share of blaster fights and you’re more than capable to take care of yourself. If you’re a lone wolf with a soft spot for gun slingers, you’re going to love playing as Han Solo. He’s got mobility, can do a lot of damage, and has abilities that will fit both long and short ranged combat.

When the Rapid Fire ability has been activated, Han doesn’t have to worry about overheating; he can shoot his blaster as fast as he can. That’s something that comes in very handy when Han is faced with a compact group of stormtroopers and when Han has to battle a powerful villain character.

Speaking about powerful villains, Han’s Lucky Shot ability is strong enough to break even Darth Vader’s block. This power hits very hard and is most effective against vehicles.

In Episode 6 there’s a scene when Han charges into a group of stormtroopers. Han’s third ability, Shoulder Charge, was inspired by that scene. This ability is both an offensive and a defensive power, ideal for quickly getting into and quickly getting out of batters.

“It’s been incredibly fun to work on Han Solo for Star Wars Battlefront. He’s such a likeable character, and turning his unique persona into gameplay features is a thrill when you’re a Star Wars fan. We’ve also witnessed the love for this character in our playtests. Han’s sardonic lines and emotes seem to put a smile on everyone’s face,” said DICE Senior Producer Jamie Keen in this official presentation of Han Solo.

The Dark Lord of the Sith, Emperor Palpatine

Emperor Palpatine may look like a fragile and week old man, but that’s just a means of tricking you into lowering your defenses. Emperor Palpatine is extremely powerful. Get too close and you’ll have a shocking experience.

The iconic Force Lighting from the Star Wars movies is one of abilities the Emperor possesses. Troops within reach will take lots of damage when the Emperor uses the Force Lightning. And when the Emperor uses the mower powerful Chain Lightning, troops all around him will take damage.

The Force Dash ability makes the Emperor move extremely fast. This allows him to quickly get next to an enemy and quickly get out of dangerous situations.

While Princess Leia has the Supply Drop ability, the Emperor has the Imperial Resources ability. Activate it to get various power ups for stormtroopers or health boosts for a villain character.

“We wanted many different things with the Emperor. We wanted him to be very mobile, but also about deception and fooling people that he’s fragile and weak. As you've seen in the original Star Wars™ trilogy, Palpatine pretends to be a weak old man, when he in fact is extremely powerful. That two-faced side was something we wanted to convey in gameplay and the Emperor’s abilities,” says this official presentation of Emperor Palpatine.

Luke Skywalker, as Seen in Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

Luke Skywalker is dressed in dark clothes, has a glove over his right hand, and carries a self-crafted green lightsaber. He looks the same as in Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, when he used the Force to battle Darth Vader and defeat Emperor Palpatine.

In Star Wars Battlefront, Skywalker is immensely powerful. He can use the force to boost his jumps, just like in the movies. He can use Force Push to send enemies flying. And he can propel himself quickly for a lightning-fast attack by using the Saber Rush ability.

“Luke’s movement is varied and powerful, featuring a wide-sweeping, heavy attack with his Lightsaber that can take out large groups of enemies. For more distant targets, the Force Push is a gratifying move that will send Imperial troops flying, and Saber Rush lets you use the Force to propel yourself extremely quickly for a lightning-fast attack,” says this official presentation of Luke Skywalker.

The Legendary Darth Vader

Join the dark side, fight for the empire, and you’ll get the chance to play as Darth Vader himself. This is, without a doubt, the most menacing character on the battlefield.

His heavy lightsaber attack can mow down groups of rebels while his iconic Force Choke can strangle enemies from a distance. Speaking about doing damage from a distance, Darth Vader has a Saber Throw move that has an area of effect and does massive damage to a group of enemies.

“If you face off with a Villain like Darth Vader one-on-one, you’re basically done. So the best strategy is to get help from your teammates and attack together. Also, the melee Heroes and Villains are particularly vulnerable from behind, so try to avoid frontal attacks,” said DICE Senior Producer Jamie Keen in this official presentation of Darth Vader.
