It is a well-known fact that YouTube is a very popular website, that people from all over the world visit it to view a large variety of videos. What you may not know is just how popular to the Google-owned video sharing site is.

You will be glad to know then that the YouTube team shed some light on the topic – the team announced that YouTube now has more than 1 billion unique monthly users.

For the past 8 years YouTube’s popularity has steadily grown and grown. AS mentioned above, it has gotten to the point where each month, 1 billion people from all over the world check YouTube to view funny videos, tutorials, music clips, and more. 1 billion is a large and an impressive number, there’s no denying that. The YouTube team broke it down to show just how impressive it is:
  • Nearly one out of every two people on the Internet visits YouTube.
  • Our monthly viewership is the equivalent of roughly ten Super Bowl audiences.
  • If YouTube were a country, we’d be the third largest in the world after China and India.
  • PSY and Madonna would have to repeat their Madison Square Garden performance in front of a packed house 200,000 more times. That’s a lot of Gangnam Style!

There’s good reason why YouTube has so many visitors. It is home to funny videos, interesting sketches, handy tutorials, music videos, and a whole lot more. With Google backing it, we can only assume that YouTube will keep on growing.

In related news, Google introduced a new Android app that lets you easily store anything that goes though your mind. The new app I am talking about is called Google Keep – it lets you write notes, color-code the notes, take photos and annotate them, turn notes to lists, have notes transcribed automatically, and more. Find out more about Google Keep here.
