The month of February is mainly about internet security and love. When I say internet security, I am of course referring to Safer Internet Day, and when I say love, I am referring to Valentine’s Day. But you don’t care about either of those, you care about video games.

You’re in luck! Some very cool games have already been released, and some pretty exciting new games are going to be released later this month. Here are the 7 new video games you can play as of February, 2016.

XCOM 2 – The sequel to the award-winning strategy title

You loved XCOM: Enemy Unknown, now prepare to love the sequel, XCOM 2.

The action in this new game takes place 20 years in the future. Humanity has lost the war against the aliens, they’re now seen as benefactors, and the XCOM paramilitary organization has become largely forgotten. You have to fix this. You have to recruit soldiers, build a resistance network, expose the aliens for what they really are, and do all you can to save humanity.

“The XCOM 2 team strived to create a sequel to XCOM: Enemy Unknown that gamers would love and want play over and over again,” said Jake Solomon, creative director of XCOM 2 at Firaxis Games. “Adding in features that set it apart from previous XCOM games was important to us, like a unique new narrative, more varied and powerful aliens, procedurally-generated levels and modding support. The team is hugely appreciative and humbled by the positive response so far, and we hope that strategy and sci-fi fans will enjoy the game as much as we enjoyed making it.”

XCOM 2, a turn-based tactical video game developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K Games, launched globally on February 5 for Window, OS X, and Linux.

The base game will set you back $59.99. The Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes the base game, a Reinforcement Pack and the digital soundtrack , will set you back $74.99. The aforementioned Reinforcement Pack can be purchased separately for $19.99.

Unravel – Yarny’s journey to mend a broken bond

Unravel, a unique physics-based puzzle platformer developed by Sweden’s Coldwood Interactive and published by EA, features an adorable hero that’s made of a single thread of yarn. His name is Yarny and he’s on a heartwarming mission to reconnect the memories of a long lost family.

You have to guide Yarny through lush environments inspired by the breath-taking landscapes of northern Scandinavia and you have to use your wits to help Yarny overcome all the obstacles that he comes across. Your goal is to solve all the puzzles and make it to the end without completely unravelling Yarny.

“What makes Yarny’s journey and Unravel’s story unique, is that it isn’t there to be told – it’s there to be discovered,” EA explained in a press release. “This allows for a more personal player journey and a deeper connection instilled throughout the game, because ultimately Unravel is all about connection – physical and emotional. Unravel is a story of love and mending broken bonds; a story of courage and persistence made only more vivid through the perspective of Yarny’s small size in a sometimes big and overwhelming world.”

Unravel hit worldwide availability on February 9.
Currently priced at $19.99, it’s available for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

Firewatch – A mystery set in the Wyoming wilderness

It’s 1989, your name is Henry, and you’re a fire lookout in the Wyoming wilderness. Your job is to keep this wilderness safe, and the way you do that is by keeping an eye out for smoke. Chances of fire are high, seeing that it’s a hot and dry summer. Something strange draws you out of your lookout and into the wild, unknown environment.

That is the premise behind Firefwatch, the first game from a new indie videogame studio, Campo Santo. Reviews praise this first-person adventure game for its stunning scenery and fresh looks, for its excellent voice acting, and for the way it builds tension by letting you uncover mysteries and conspiracies.

Firewatch was released on February 9 for Windows, OS X, and PlayStation 4. It is currently priced at $19.99.

Far Cry Primal – Ubisoft’s take on the Stone Age

Previous Far Cry games featured guns, sniper rifles, flamethrowers, rocket launchers, and all sorts of other weapons. The upcoming Far Cry Primal is different. The action takes place in the Stone Age, in the prehistoric land of Oros. It is a dangerous place were mammoths, sabertooth tigers, and other dangerous animals live – there are human foes as well. To fight them, you must use fire, your Beast Master abilities, and prehistoric weapons like spears, axes, and bows.

Ubisoft recently published a 101 trailer that tells you pretty much everything you need to know about the weapons, the Beast Master abilities, and the foes you’ll have to battle in Far Cry Primal.

Far Cry Primal will be released on February 23 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and March 1st for PC.
