As you may already know, the next iteration of the Windows-based operating system, mainly Windows 7 will be released on the 22nd of October – which is only a few days away. On that date people selected by Microsoft will hold Windows 7 Launch Parties. These are the people that signed up to host a Windows 7 Launch Party, made the finalists group and then responded to Microsoft’s email in time.
For those who would have liked to hold a windows 7 Launch Party but could not make the qualifying list, Microsoft has set up a special webpage that serves Windows 7 tips, content, demos and training. With the info provided by that site, you too could hold a Windows 7 gathering. It’s not an official Windows 7 Launch Party, but its your best alternative.
At the party, or at the gathering, you could try to make things interesting by playing one of these party games:
There are 6 different versions of Windows 7: Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional, and Ultimate. Print Bingo cards using combinations of the SKUs and see who wins.
Have your party attendees act out their favorite Microsoft executive, catch phrase, product and so on.
In teams, compete against each other in trying to find drivers for the main Windows 7 machine at the party. The team that finds them the fastest, wins.
Blindfold a party guest and see if he can pin an open gadget on the Windows 7 Taskbar.
In teams, try to see who can find an undisclosed security hole or bug in Windows 7. Give each team 20 minutes to try and uncover a flaw.
Tell your guests to bring their least favorite Windows version, gift wrapped so that no one can see what version it is. Then exchange these “gifts” in a white elephant gift exchange.
Everyone takes a drink every time a UAC prompt is displayed on the main Windows 7 machine at the party. For extra thrills, set the protection level to high, visit some known malware spreading sites and click everything in sight.
