2D Boy, the company founded by former EA Arts developers Kyle Gabler and Ron Carmel, announced that the iPad version of the World of Goo app available at half the price for a limited amount of time. The two developers announced that their award-winning physics based game is available for only $4.99.

Why is 2D Boy offering the app on the cheap? Why to celebrate the fact that the app is on the App Store for more than a month. As you may remember, back in November 2010, 2D Boy announced that work on World of Goo for iPad is done and they’re waiting on Apple to approve the app. In December Apple did just that, it welcomed the app in the App Store. In January, to celebrate one month since the App Store opened its gates for World of Goo, 2D boy announced that they’re slashing the app’s price by half.

“World of Goo has been out on iPad for a month, and the overwhelming response so far from reviewers, fans, and game of the year awards has made the Goo Balls feel extra delicious, so thanks! To celebrate, we’re experimenting making World of Goo 50% off for a limited time. If you haven’t yet, go pick it up for $4.99 and force your friends to get it too!” said Kyle Gabler in a blog post.

One of the great things about World of Goo for iPad is that it supports up to 11 players. As 2D Boy explained, this means “you can play with 11 fingers on one screen. Which means you can play two handed, with friends, an animal, anything up to eleven fleshy things touching the screen.”

I mentioned above that World of Goo is an award-winning physics based. The game won, among other things, the Design Innovation and Technical Excellence Award at the 2008 Independent Games Festival and the Best Independent Game award at the 2008 Video Games Awards.
