5 Open-world Games that Are Just Now Worth Your Money

Buying games the moment they come out is… well, not crazy, but expensive. That’s why I like to wait until they go on sale, or until they’re rolled out as a Game of the Year edition. You’ll end up saving quite a bit of money if you have patience and wait.

Speaking of which, you no longer have to wait to get the 5 open-world games featured below. The best time to get them is right now.

1. The Crew is free via UBI 30

Ubisoft turned 30 this year and, to celebrate this joyous occasion, it decided to give away 7 of its most popular titles for free. Not all at once; one per month, until the end of the year.

The game that Ubisoft is giving away this month is 2014’s The Crew – an open-world racing game that lets you drive across the entire United States, from East Coast to West Coast.

Get The Crew for free via UBI 30 on the Ubisoft Club.

2. Mad Max is $10 on Steam (for a limited time)

Steam’s running a 'Warner Bros Games Publisher Weekend' sale until September 19. Several interesting titles are available for a considerable discount, including 2015’s Mad Max – an open-world action-adventure video game set in a savage post-apocalyptic world where cars are the key to survival. Just like in the movies.

Get Mad Max for 75% off from Steam.

Want more post-apocalyptic open-world fun? Bethesda recently rolled out Nuka World, the final game add-on for Fallout 4.

3. Batman: Arkham Knight is also $10 on Steam

I’m not done with Steam’s WB Games weekend sale. Not before I mention that it features tons of Batman games, including 2015’s Arkham Knight – the open-world action-adventure game that brings Rocksteady’s award-winning Arkham trilogy to its epic conclusion.

Get Batman: Arkham Knight for 66% off from Steam.

Older Batman titles are even cheaper. Arkham Asylum GOTY for example is just $4.99. And so is LEGO Batman. Check out the WB Games weekend sale to see the complete list of Batman games that you can get for cheap.

4. The Elder Scrolls Online is out as a Gold Edition

Earlier this month, Bethesda and Zenimax released the Gold Edition of the Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) massively multiplayer online role-playing video game. Priced at $59.99, it isn’t exactly cheap. But it’s worth it, because you get a lot of stuff.

You see, ESO Gold Edition includes:
  • The base game, which is priced at $29.99).
  • The four DLC game packs that have been released so far. They’re available for purchase from the in-game Crown Store for 5,500 crowns or $39.99.
  • The Palomino Horse that’s been bread for its unique appearance. Before being pulled from the Crown Store, it was priced at 900 crowns.
  • 500 crowns to do with them as you please.

Go get ESO Gold Edition from the official ESO Store or from Steam.

If you already bought The Elder Scrolls Online, but you didn’t get any of the DLCs, then you need to know about the Glory DLC Mega-Pack which features the 4 DLC game packs that have been released so far. You can get it for 5,500 crowns from the in-game Crown Store.

5. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Game of the Year

You knew this was coming, right? How could I ignore a game that won a ton of awards, has stunning graphics, and offers more than 150 hours of gameplay? The Witcher 3 is a must for anyone who likes open-world action RPGs. And what better time to get it than now, when it’s available as a Game of the Year (GOTY) edition?

Released on August 30, The Witcher 3 GOTY includes all the updates, all the patches, all 16 DLCs, as well as both major expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.

The Witcher 3 GOTY is available for $49.99 on Steam and other stores.
