5 Mobile Games That Are Based on Popular Action Movies

It’s fun to watch action movies and it’s fun to play games inspired by said movies. Well aware of this fact, mobile game developer and publisher Glu created free-to-play games based on some of the biggest action franchises in the movie world.

Here are 5 mobile games created by Glu, games that are based on adrenaline-pumping, thrilling, action movies.


1. Robocop – The Ultimate Law Enforcement Officer



In 2014, the Robocop franchise was rebooted. MGM, Columbia and Strike Entertainment released a new RoboCop movie starring Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton and Samuel L. Jackson. And Glu released a new mobile game based on the new Robocop movie – the official game for the new Robocop movie.

The action in the game is set in Detroit, in the year 2028, just like in the movie. Alex Murphy, who is a good cop and a loving husband & father, is injured while on duty. OmniCorp, a multinational conglomerate that is at the center of robot technology, turns Murphy into RoboCop, a police officer that’s part man and part robot.

2. Hercules – Greece’s Greatest Hero



Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson played Hercules, the hero famous for his strength, in the 2014 movie by the same name. In the movie, Hercules is hired by the King of Thrace to defeat a tyrannical warlord. Having completed his legendary 12 labors, Hercules is a sword-for-hire who must help protect the kingdom of Thrace from a ruthless warlord.

Glu’s official Hercules game lets you become Hercules, Greece’s greatest hero. You are to complete Hercule’s legendary labors and you are to prove your worth to all of Greece.

3. Terminator Genisys: Revolution – Fight the Machines, Save the Human Race



On July 1st, 2015, the new Terminator Genisys movie was released to theaters across the US. Arnold Schwarzenegger is once the again the robot tasked with protecting the main character, main character who is played by Emilia Clarke (you know her as Daenerys Targaryen, the mother of dragons from Game of Thrones).

Glu rolled out the official Terminator Genisys game on the same date. The launch of the Terminator Genisys: Revolution game was coordinated with the movie's worldwide theatrical release. The action in the game is set in the year 2028, when the fight against the machines has humanity on the brink of extinction. John Connor is humanity’s last hope and it’s up to you to help him fulfill that destiny.

4. Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation – Fight the Syndicate



Rogue Nation, the fifth installment in the Mission Impossible series, was be released on July 31st, 2015 in the US. Ethan Hunt (played by Tom Cruise) takes on his most dangerous mission yet – to find and eradicate the Syndicate, a rogue organization that’s set on destroying the IMF. Worse still, the Syndicate has agents that are as skilled as IMF’s agents.

Glu did not release the Rogue Nation game on the same date as the movie. It released it a bit sooner, probably to generate buzz for it.

5. James Bond: World of Espionage – The Bond Universe of Strategy and Intelligence



Spectre, the new action adventure thriller starring Daniel Craig as James Bond, will be released on November 6 in the US. Google is giving you the chance to win a prize package worth $25,000, package that includes four seats for the premiere of the new 007 movie.
