1. Kingdom Rush – Fight Orcs, Trolls, Monsters and Evil Wizards

Did you know there’s a Kingdom Rush trilogy of games? Alongside the original Kingdom Rush game, Ironhide Game Studio rolled out two more: Kingdom Rush Frontiers and Kingdom Rush Origins. Since these two aren’t free-to-play, let’s focus on the original game, shall we?

Kingdom Rush is an action fantasy defense game for iOS and Android. Your task in the game is to protect your kingdom from hordes of orcs, trolls, evil wizards and other nasty fiends. You’ll have to use a variety of towers, various spells, and cunning strategy to defeat your enemies. Basic and specialized towers, tower upgrades, special abilities, and hero units will help you in your battles.

Kingdom Rush for iPhone, iPad, and Android is free-to-play (offers in-app purchases)
Kingdom Rush for Windows and Mac OS X is $10.

There’s a new Bloons title you should know about: Bloons TD Battles. What’s interesting about this game is that it has been designed for multiplayer combat. For the time first ever, it pits monkey versus monkey. Or to put it in other words, it lets you go head-to-head with other players.

Bloons TD Battles is available for iOS on the App Store and for Android on Google Play. The game is free, but offers in-app purchases. You need to be connected to the internet for the game to run.

5. Plants vs. Zombies 2 – Travel Through Time, Battle the Zombies

While the original Plants vs. Zombie game is not free, the sequel is (with in-app purchases).

Here’s how the original game worked. The zombies want to get into the house and…are you ready for this…eat your brains. You have to use plants to protect yourself. Plant them on your lawn and they will destroy the zombies in a variety of ways; by shooting them, by eating them, by blowing them up, and more.

Plants vs. Zombies 2 comes with a time-travel theme. You’ll have to battle the zombies in the Wild West, in Ancient Egypt, even in the Far Future. Plants vs. Zombies 2 also comes with a Vase Breaker mini game and a relaxing Zen Garden.

Fun fact: Plants vs. Zombies 2 was downloaded more than 16 million times in the first 5 days after launch and more than 25 million times in the first two weeks after launch.
