Flickr, the popular photo and video hosting service, is finally ready to take advantage of Apple’s iOS 9 mobile operating system. It’s been 1 month and 20 days since Apple released iOS 9 to the public, and we finally have a Flickr for iOS 9 app.

The wait was worth it! The new Flickr for iOS 9 comes with 3 cool new features that you’re sure to find very, very useful. These features, as the Flickr team explained, will “help you get the most out of the latest Apple software and devices.”

1. Preview photos, quickly perform actions with 3D Touch

The New iPhone 6S and 6S Plus can sense how hard you press on the display. 3D Touch uses this to offer new ways of interacting with your apps. Press firmly on the camera app for example, and you will bring up options take a photo and shoot a video. Lightly press a link someone sent you to preview said link. You know how 3D Touch works, I don’t have to explain it any further.

Flickr for iOS 9 adds support for 3D Touch. Peek and Pop, as well as Quick Actions are available.

Peek and Pop works something like this. Lightly press on your iPhone’s screen and you’ll be able to preview photos, people, notifications and more. Go to your Flickr Camera Roll, lightly press on a photo, and you’ll see a preview of that photo. To switch between photo previews, simply move your finger to the left or right. Press harder on a photo to Pop it full screen.

Quick Actions are available as well. When you lightly press the Flickr icon on your iPhone’s phone screen, you’ll be presented with a list of frequently used actions. This includes the option to upload a photo to Flickr.

2. Quickly find things with Spotlight Search

Thanks to Spotlight Search, you don’t have to open the Flickr app to be able to find albums, groups and recently-viewed items.

3. Universal Links open directly in the app

Flickr for iOS 9 comes with universal link support. This means that the Safari web browser won’t open the links you send or receive. These links open directly in the Flickr app.

These are the 3 cool new features that Flickr for iOS introduces. To enjoy said features, you must go get the Flickr app from Apple’s App Store here.

I have to remind you about Flickr’s browser extension for Google Chrome, Flickr Tab. The new tab page is functional and useful, which is fine if you like it that way. If you find it a bit boring, then use Flickr Tab to spice things up a bit.

What Flickr Tab does is it takes an image from Flickr and puts it in Chrome’s New Tab page. Instead of the boring new tab page, you’ll see a beautiful image from Flickr.

Flickr belongs to Yahoo. You know that, right? But did you know that Yahoo! has an award-winning weather app that beautifully displays the forecast and alert you 15 minutes before rain or snow. If you didn’t, then I invite you to check out this article.
