We already know that World of Goo for Windows is a popular and award-winning game; now we have confirmation that the World of Goo for iOS app is also doing quite well. 2D Boy, company founded by former EA Arts developers Kyle Gabler and Ron Carmel, announced yesterday that a million World of Goo copies have been sold on Apple’s App Store.

“World of Goo was released on iOS a little over a year ago, and some time in the wee hours of last night, someone was the millionth person to buy World of Goo on the App Store,” said 2D Boy. “Whoever you are, we wish you a long, healthy, and prosperous life.”

The 1 million World of Goo sales can be broken down as follows: the universal iOS version of World of Goo can be credited for 69% of downloads and 79% of revenue; the iPhone version for 29% of downloads and 17% of revenue; the Mac App Store for 2% of downloads and 4% of revenue.

World of Goo is doing well on the Android front as well. As you may remember, the Android version of the award-winning physics game was released to the Android Market in November 2011 (the last few days of November to be more precise). It’s been little over a month since the release of the Android version and so far 70,000 copies of the full version have been bought and some 450,000 copies of the free demo version have been downloaded.

“For comparison, during the same period of time after the iOS launch, we sold about 180,000 copies,” said 2D Boy. “This is not a fair comparison for a variety reasons, but it does indicate that the Android Market is no longer the tiny upstart it was a year or two ago.”

And now, for some download links for those of you interested in getting World of Goo. The universal iOS app is available for purchase here, the iPhone version here, the Mac version here, and the Android versions here (free demo) and here (paid full version).
