On Monday, the 5th of March, Cupertino-based software developer Apple announced that its App Store topped 25 billion downloads. There are more than 315 million iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad users out there and so far they downloaded apps from the App Store more than 25 billion times. The offering of apps is quite large – more than 550,000 apps and more than 170,000 native iPad apps are hosted on the App Store, which is available in 123 countries around the world.

“We’d like to thank our customers and developers for helping us achieve this historic milestone of 25 billion apps downloaded,” said Apple’s Senior VP of Internet Software and Services, Eddy Cue. “When we launched the App Store less than four years ago, we never imagined that mobile apps would become the phenomenon they have, or that developers would create such an incredible selection of apps for iOS users.”

The one to initiate the 25 billionth download from the App Store is Chunli Fu of Qingdao, China who got the free version of an award-winning game. And more to the point, Chunli Fu downloaded “Where's My Water? Free”, a game that gets you to help Swampy the Alligator take a shower. You see, Swampy is a friendly alligator that lives in the sewers and likes to take a shower after a hard day at work. Unfortunately for him, the other alligators damaged the plumbing and now he can’t take a shower. It is up to you to guide the water to the shower and I help Swampy out.

But I digress – lets get back to the topic at hand. As I was saying the 25 billionth download was “Where's My Water? Free”, game that was downloaded by Chunli Fu from China. For initiating the 25 billionth download Chunli Fu got a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card.
