Google announced that a grand total of 25 billion apps have been downloaded from its Play Store (formerly Android Market). To celebrate, it's offering great apps for the discounted price of $0.25.

No matter what your need may be, the Play Store is the place to go and get an app that will satisfy that need. If you’re bored and want something to do, you can download a fun game and play it. If you need to customize your phone’s looks, there are many apps that offer cool looking wallpapers. If you want to track your finances, manage your weight, easily communicate with others, and anything else you can think of, you will find an app in the Play Store built specifically for that purpose. As an Apple fanboy would say, “there’s an app for that.”

The pickings on Google’s Play Store are anything but slim. At the time of writing this the Play Store is home to more than 675,000 apps. Anyone with an Android-powered device can access these apps and download them – and of course, people from all over the world have done so at an impressive pace.

Google announced on Wednesday, September 26th, that the number of downloads from the Play Store has crossed the 25 billion mark. Or to put it in other words, more than 25 billion apps have been downloaded from the App Store by Android users all over the world.

What is Google doing to celebrate this joyous occasion? It is offering discounts for the next 5 days – great apps for the awesome price of 25 cents.

“Every day you’ll be able to choose from a collection of apps from some of the world’s top developers including Gameloft, Electronic Arts, Rovio, runtastic, Full Fat and more. And all for just 25 cents. We’ll also be offering some special collections like 25 movies you must own, 25 banned books, 25 albums that changed the world and our 25 top selling magazines, all at special prices. Visit Google Play a little later today to check them out,” explained Jamie Rosenberg, Director, Digital Content.
