World of Goo, the physics-based construction game developed by 2D Boy, recently received one more award, besides the Design Innovation and Technical Excellence Award from the Independent Games Festival. Now that World of Goo has been declared “Best Independent Game” at this year’s VGA (Video Games Awards) it stands to reasons that the DRM-free (Digital Rights Management) game will see an increase in piracy rates. Back in November, 2D Boy was already reporting piracy rates on excess of 80%; despite this, 2D Boy founders Kyle Gabler and Ron Carmel were saying that including DRM would not have a significant effect on piracy.

If you are curious to find out which games received an award at this year’s VGA, here is a detailed list.
