On July 30, 2015, Rovio Entertainment rolled out Angry Birds 2, the sequel to the immensely popular Angry Birds game. It managed to rack up more than 20 million downloads in the first week alone.

UPDATE, August 13, 2015: Two weeks have passed since Rovio released Angry Birds 2. And the number of downloads went up to 30 million.

“When we were developing and testing Angry Birds 2, we had good reason to believe we were on to a good thing, but the enormous groundswell of enthusiasm for the game from loyal fans and casual newcomers alike has been humbling,” says Creative Director Patrick Liu. “It took the first Angry Birds game more than 9 months to reach this many players, and we thank all our fans for growing the flock so quickly!”

Angry Birds 2 – Main Features
  • Choose wisely– the game lets you choose what bird to fling at the nasty piggies. Don’t think this will make the game easier. It means you’ll have to put some thought into your slingshot strategy.
  • Destruct-O-Meter – destroy blocks to fill up the Destruct-O-Meter and thus earn extra birds.
  • Piggy Island – Piggy Island looks better than ever. Prepare to experience jaw-droppingly stunning levels.
  • Multi-stage levels – think you’re done playing the level? Think again, because many levels have multiple stages.
  • Spells – Blizzards, Hot Chilis, Golden Ducks and other spells are available.
  • Arena – challenge players from across the world in the Arena; take part in tournaments, earn feathers to level up your birds.

Angry Birds 2 is available for Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android mobile operating system. Sorry Windows Phone users, but Rovio has no plans to make Angry Birds available for Windows Phone (see here).
