15 New Video Games You Can Play this Month (August 2016)

It’s August, the month when Microsoft starts rolling out the Windows 10 Anniversary Update and the sleek new Xbox One S, the most advanced Xbox ever. It’s also the month when Samsung unveils the latest Note, the Galaxy Note 7.

But you don’t care about that, you care about video games. So leaving Microsoft and Samsung aside, here’s a look at some of the new video games you can play as of this month.

1. Abzû
  • Game type – adventure, exploration game set in a beautiful, vibrant ocean world full of mystery and bursting with color and life.
  • Release date – August 2 for PC and PS4.
  • Gameplay – dive into the depths of the sea and explore beautifully rendered ocean environments with fluid swimming controls.

  • Game type – episodic point-and-click graphic adventure video game.
  • Release date – August 2 for PC, Mac, PS4 and Xbox One. Later this August for Xbox 360 and PS3.
  • Price – $24.99 on Steam.
  • Gameplay – enter the fractured psyche of Bruce Wayne and discover the powerful and far-reaching consequences of your choices as the Dark Knight. Make discoveries that will shatter Bruce Wayne's world, and the already fragile stability of a corrupt Gotham City.

3. Mobius Final Fantasy – Chapter 1: Fate of the Blank
  • Game type – episodic role-playing video game designed for mobile phones.
  • Release date – August 3 for iOS and Android.
  • Gameplay – you play as Wol, a man who wakes with amnesia in the world of Palamecia. As Wol, you must fight the forces of Chaos and save Palamecia.

4. No Man’s Sky
  • Game type – first-person open-universe adventure survival video game.
  • Release date – August 9 for PS4 in North America, August 10 for PS4 in Europe, August 12 for PC worldwide.

  • Game type – adventure platform video game.
  • Release date – August 16 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
  • Gameplay – BUD, the clumsy and charming robot from Grow Home, is back. This time, his mission is to find his parental spaceship, MOM.

  • Release date – August 18 for PC and Mac.
  • Gameplay – lead a mob of ancient Greeks through mythological Greece, destroying everything that stands in the way.

7. Metroid Prime: Federation Force
  • Game type – cooperative (up to 4 players) first-person sci-fi shooter.
  • Release date – August 19 in North America for Nintendo 3DS. August 25 in Japan, September 2 in Europe, and September 3 in Australia.
  • Gameplay – fight alongside teammates in your specialized Mech to eliminate the Space Pirate menace and any threat that stands in your way.

  • Game type – first-person adventure video game.
  • Release date – August 22 for PC and Mac.

  • Price – $49.99 for the Standard Edition and $69.99 for the Deluxe Edition. Pre-purchase either edition and you’ll be able to immediately boost one character to level 100.
