The aforementioned study is entitled Always Connected – How Smartphones and Social Keep US Engaged. It was conducted by IDC, sponsored by Facebook, and it was released to the public this Wednesday. You can check it out here.

By analyzing data collected over the course of 1 week in March from 7,446 iPhone and Android users in the U.S. between 18 and 44, the study uncovered that 70% of respondents use Facebook on their phones, 61% use it each day, 79% reach for their phones within 15 minutes of waking, about two and a half hours are spent on Facebook each day on average, and Facebook is accessed 14 times on average. To find out what other interesting facts the study brought forward, go ahead and check it for yourself (the link is above).

In related news, Facebook invited press members to a special event that will be held at the company’s headquarters on the 4th of April. “Come See Our New Home On Android” is what Facebook said on the invitation. Rumor on the web has it that Facebook will uncover a modified Android version that features deep native Facebook functionality on the homescreen.
