11 New Video Games You Can Play this Month (June 2016)

Want to play a game but you don’t know what to play? Come check out some of the best new games that will be released this month. There's something for everyone: strategy, action, adventure, horror...

Before you go check out the 11 new video games that you can play as of this month, I just have to remind you about last month's 12 new games and about these 12 worst movies based on video games.

1. TurnOn
  • Game type – indie single-player game described as "a platformer without platforms."
  • Release date – June 1st for PC and Xbox One (the game’s been in development for the past 2 years).
  • Price – $14.99 on Steam and the Xbox Store.
  • Gameplay – an alien electrical spark named Turnon must restore electricity to the city because there’s been an accident at the power station and the whole city has plunged into darkness.

2. Hearts of Iron IV
  • Game type – war strategy video game.
  • Release date – June 6th for PC and Mac.
  • Price – $14.99 on Steam.
  • Gameplay – take command of any nation in World War II and lead it to victory.

3. Mirror's Edge Catalyst
  • Game type – first-person action-adventure platform video game.
  • Release date – June 7th in the US and June 9th in Europe (it was initially scheduled to be released in May). Available for PC, Xbox One and PS4.
  • Price – $39.99 from various sources.
  • Gameplay – play as Faith Connors and traverse the futuristic city of Glass. Use parkour movements to explore the environment, evade enemies, and complete missions.

4. Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter
  • Game type – adventure video game.
  • Release date – June 10th for PC, Xbox One, PS4.
  • Price – $49 on Steam.
  • Gameplay – put your nerves and intelligence to the test in this adventure game that blends investigation, action and exploration. Play as Sherlock Holmes and untangle a web of intrigue.

5. Dead by Daylight
  • Game type – multiplayer (4vs1) horror game.
  • Release date – June 14th for PC.
  • Price – $19.99 for the Standard Edition or $29.99 for the Deluxe Edition on Steam.
  • Gameplay – one player is the savage killer who has to hunt down and slaughter the survivors; the other 4 players are the survivors and they have to evade the killer.

6. Mighty No. 9
  • Game type – Japanese 2D side-scrolling action-platform video game.
  • Release date – June 21st for all major platforms.
  • Price – $19.99 on Steam.
  • Gameplay – you play as a powerful robot called Beck and you have to run jump, blast, and transform your way through twelve stages using weapons and abilities stolen from your enemies to take down your fellow Mighty Number robots and confront the final evil that threatens the planet.

7. Umbrella Corps
  • Game type – multiplayer survival horror shooter video game.
  • Release date – June 21st for PC and PS4. Released to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Resident Evil series.
  • Price – $29.99 for the Standard Edition or $39.99 for the Deluxe Edition on Steam.
  • Gameplay – use strategy and skill to survive in the zombie-infested world of Resident Evil.

8. 7 Days to Die
  • Game type – open-world survival horror video game.
  • Release date – June 28th for Xbox One and PS4 (the PC version has been around since 2013).
  • Price – $24.99 on Steam.
  • Gameplay – survive for as long as you can in a brutally unforgiving post-apocalyptic world overrun by the undead.

9. Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens
  • Game type – Lego-themed action-adventure video game.
  • Release date – June 28th for all major platforms.
  • Price –$39.99 for the Standard Edition and $49.99 for the Deluxe edition on Steam.
  • Gameplay – relive the action from The Force Awakens by playing as all the characters from the movie.

10. The Technomancer
  • Game type – science fiction-themed action RPG video game.
  • Release date – June 28 for PC, Xbox One and PS4.
  • Price – $44.99 on Steam.
  • Gameplay – the action takes place during the War of Water, on Mars, 200 years after humans colonized the planet. You play as a Technomancer, a formidable warrior harnessing destructive electrical powers. Travel the Red Planet, fight mutant creatures, and solve quests using diplomacy, combat or trickery.

11. Battle (mini game for Minecraft)
  • Game type – the first mini game for Minecraft on consoles.
  • Release date – June 2016.
  • Price – free to all owners of Minecraft on Xbox 360, Xbox One and other consoles, via a game update.
  • Gameplay – a competitive multiplayer fight for survival with up to four players in split-screen and up to eight players online.



Honorable mention – The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine expansion

Blood and Wine, the second and final expansion for the award-winning Witcher 3 game has just been released, on May 31. Promising to offer 30 hours of gameplay, it introduces a new region, 90 new quests, 40 new points of interest, 20 new monsters, 30 new weapons, and an all-new Gwent deck.



The Blood and Wine expansion is priced at $19.99 on Steam and elsewhere.


In related news... No Man's Sky has been delayed

No Man’s Sky should have been released on June 21. But Sony and Hello games announced that the game’s release date has been pushed to August 2016. You’ll have to wait until then to get your hands on this sci-fi adventure survival video game that’s set in an infinite procedurally generated galaxy.
