10 New Video Games You Can Play this Month (March 2017)

It’s the first of the month, so you know what that means! Time to take a look at the new video games that are scheduled to be released during the month of March, 2017.

Before we get started, let me quickly remind you that the Nintendo Switch, the hybrid console that you can use at home and one the go, is going to be released worldwide on March 3.

Video Games Scheduled to Be Released in March 2017

1. Horizon Zero Dawn (in Europe and Japan)
  • Game type – action role-playing video game for PS4.
  • Release date – March 1 in Europe, March 2 in Japan. Available in North America since February 28.
  • Price – $59.99.
  • About – In an era where machines roam the land and mankind is no longer the dominant species, a young hunter named Aloy embarks on a journey to discover her destiny.

2. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  • Game type – action-adventure video game.
  • Release date – March 3 for the Nintendo Switch.
  • About – Forget everything you know about The Legend of Zelda games. Step into a world of discovery, exploration and adventure in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a boundary-breaking new game in the acclaimed series. Travel across fields, through forests and to mountain peaks as you discover what has become of the ruined kingdom of Hyrule in this stunning open-air adventure.

3. 1-2-Switch
  • Game type – party game that features many different minigames.
  • Release date – March 3 for Nintendo Switch.
  • About – The first Nintendo video game in which players compete in fun activities while staring into each other’s eyes instead of at the TV screen.

4. LEGO Worlds
  • Game type – LEGO sandbox game.
  • Release date – March 7 (March 10 in some territories) for PC, Xbox One and PS4. Originally scheduled to be released on February 24. Available as an Early Access game on Steam since June 2015.
  • Price – $14.99 on Steam.
  • About – LEGO Worlds is an open environment of procedurally-generated Worlds made entirely of LEGO bricks which you can freely manipulate and dynamically populate with LEGO models. Create anything you can imagine, one brick at a time, or use large-scale landscaping tools to create vast mountain ranges and dot your world with tropical islands.

5. Nier: Automata
  • Game type – action RPG set on a post-apocalyptic Earth thousands of years after the events of the original Nier game.
  • Release date – March 7 in North America, March 10 in Europe for PS4. Early 2017 for PC
  • Price – $59.99 on the PlayStation Store. Free demo available.
  • About – Invaders from another world attack without warning - unleashing the machine lifeforms. To break the deadlock, a new breed of android infantry is sent into the fray: the YoRHa squad.

6. Ghost Recon: Wildlands
  • Game type – open world tactical shooter video game.
  • Release date –March 7 for PC, Xbox One and PS4.
  • Price –$59.99 for the Standard Edition, $69.99 for the Deluxe Edition, and $99.99 for the Gold Edition on Steam.
  • System requirements – see this article for the game’s minimum and recommended requirements.
  • About – The action in this game takes place in modern day Bolivia. You’re a member of the Ghosts, an elite team that has been dispatched by the US Army to deal with the Santa Blanca drug cartel. You are to destroy the cartel and expose its ties to the local government.

7. Styx: Shards of Darkness
  • Game type – stealth video game.
  • Release date – March 14 for PC, Xbox One and PS4.
  • Price – $39.99 on Steam.
  • About – The Goblin assassin returns in an epic new adventure that takes him around a dark-fantasy world. 8. Mass Effect Andromeda
  • Game type – action RPG, the fourth entry in the Mass Effect series.
  • Release date – March 21 in North America and March 23 in Europe.
  • Price – $59.99 for the Standard Edition, $69.99 for the Deluxe Edition, and $99.99 for the Super Deluxe Edition on Origin.

  • Release date – March 28 for PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
  • Price – $19.99 at GameStop. Presumably it will cost the same on Steam.
  • About – Embark on an epic journey with the Has-Been Heroes, a group of legendary champions once celebrated throughout the kingdom – almost forgotten until the King has one more quest, the most epic of them all: TO TAKE THE TWIN PRINCESSES TO SCHOOL!

10. Old Time Hockey
  • Game type – ice hockey video game.
  • Release date – March 28 for PC and PS4. Xbox One and Nintendo Switch release dates have yet to be announced.
  • About – Experience hockey the way it was meant to be played in this old school arcade style hockey game where blood on the ice is just another day at the rink. 70s afros, big moustaches, no helmets, dirty hits, bench-clearing brawls, goalie fights, stick fights, ref abuse and locker room language – that's Old Time Hockey.

A grand total of 56 games spread across 24 award categories were nominated for the 20th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS), the non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement and recognition of the interactive arts.
