I didn’t want a new HTC 10, but now that I know more about it, I’ve come to the conclusion that I definitely need one.

Sound familiar? You don’t know you want something until you find out about it and your brain goes "I need this because of reasons." Like with these 10 awesome gadgets.

1. GetHuman addresses your customer service annoyances

Whenever something breaks, I try to fix it myself. If I can’t, I just throw it away and get a new one. The last thing I do is pick up the phone and call customer service, because calling customer service is a nightmare. I should know, I briefly worked in tech support.

GetHuman aims to fix all that. It offers time-saving tools and info that will help you efficiently resolve you customer service issues.

GetHuman is available as a website and as a mobile app for iOS and Android.

2. Silent Partner eliminates snoring sounds

Can’t get any sleep because your significant other is snoring like a chainsaw? If only there was a device that could cancel out the snoring. Wait, there is!

Silent Partner uses Active Noise Cancellation technology to eliminate snoring sounds. This means it detects snoring and emits a sound wave that cancels out the snoring sound.

Silent Partner is available for pre-order on Indiegogo.

3. Holosonics speakers are great for late night movie watching

I like to stay up late and watch movies. Great for me, annoying for the wife, who wants it nice and quiet so she can sleep. Holosonics addresses this problem with Audio Spotlight, speakers that focus and direct sound so that only you will hear it.

As you can see here, Holosonics has several Audio Spotlight models to offer (and they’re all fairly expensive).

4. Nike HyperAdapt with self-lacing technology

Time out, time out, my laces are untied. That’s something you’ll never hear from someone who wears Nike’s new self-lacing sneakers, Nike HyperAdapt.

“When you step in, your heel will hit a sensor and the system will automatically tighten,” said Tiffany Beers, Senior Innovator at Nike and the project’s technical lead. “Then there are two buttons on the side to tighten and loosen. You can adjust it until it’s perfect.”

Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 will be available only to members of Nike+ beginning Holiday 2016.

5. Honda's Miimo is a Roomba for your lawn

Mowing the lawn is a chore. You don’t want to do it, junior isn’t home so you can’t get him to do it, and there’s no way your neighbor Bob will do you a solid and do it for you. But who says you have to mow the lawn yourself? This is the 21st century and we have robots that can do that. Like Honda’s Miimo.

6. The Stir Kinetic Desk switches from sitting to standing

Sitting all day at your desk, in front of your computer, isn’t good for your health. So it better to stand? Not exactly. The best thing you can do is switch between sitting and standing. The Stir Kinetic Desk does precisely that. It is a smart desk that intelligently switches between sitting and standing.

The Stir Kinetic Desk is a Stirworks product.

7. Samsung SleepSense turns the TV off when you fall asleep

I’ve set my smart TV to automatically turn off at midnight. If I’m asleep by then, great. If not, it’s a bit of a nuisance. A nuisance that Samsung wants to tackle with a sleep monitoring device called SleepSense. Among other things, it can turn off your TV (and other smart appliances) when you fall asleep.

Samsung unveiled SleepSense at IFA 2015 in Berlin. Learn more about it here.

8. FOODsniffer tells you if food is still good to eat

If you throw away food that’s still good, you’re contributing to the food waste problem. But if you consume food that’s no longer good to eat, you might end up in the hospital. Thanks to FOODsniffer, you’ll never throw away good food or end up in the hospital, because this awesome food spoilage detection system tells you if food is still good to eat or not.

You don’t have to go and open the fridge to see what’s inside. Not if you have a Samsung Family Hub Fridge that is. This thing has 3 built-in cameras that take a picture every time the fridge door closes. You can remotely view the picture from your smartphone with the Samsung Smart Home app.

That’s not all. The Samsung Family Hub Fridge also has a 21.5-inch touchscreen that you can use to take notes, display photos, watch videos, listen to music, and even do a bit of online shopping.
