Cats sure do love to play, don’t they? They’ll play with a bit of string, they’ll play with that toy mouse you bought at the pet shop, they’ll even play on your smartphone or tablet if you install a game for them.

Yes, there are developers out there who created mobile apps specifically for cats. There are, as a matter of fact, lots of apps for cats out there. Here’s a small sample of just 10.

1. Friskies Cat Fishing 2

Fish swim around on the screen. When your cat catches one, she scores some points. The more fish she catches, the more challenging the game gets.

There are 3 levels in all. Level 1 puts 1 fish on the screen, level 2 puts 2 fish, and level 3 puts 3 fish on the screen.

If your cat stops playing for 30 seconds, the game will literally meow to grab her attention.

2. Friskies JitterBug

This app is very similar to the Cat Fishing app presented above. The main difference is that instead of fish, it features bugs and other crawly things. Thanks to Advanced Mode, you can choose how many of each kind of bug will appear.

3. Friskies Happy Wings

This third Friskies app features three levels, and each level features a different flying critter: a moth, a hummingbird, and a dragonfly. The number of flying critters increases throught the levels, so by the time you get to level 7 there will be 3 moths on the screen.

It appeals to chickens too, not just cats.

4. Friskies Call your Cat

Instead of going “here kitty, kitty”, just launch this app and use one of its sounds to call your cat. The app features several sounds that your cat should find irresistible, chief among them being the sound of a bag of kibbles being opened.

5. Friskies Pull 'n Play

You don’t have to download anything to play this game, because Pull 'n Play works within your browser. To start playing it, you need only visit this website.

To play, tap or swipe Wobbert's strings until the string meter is full. Who is Wobbert? Why, the wobbly toy that loves to feed your cat's craving for fun and Friskies cat treats.

6. Game for Cats

Game for Cats, an app developed by pet video-game studio Little Hiccup, is all about getting your cat to chase something, be it a mouse, a laser, or a butterfly.

"A bored cat is an unhappy cat," said Nate Murray, co-founder of Little Hiccup. "Game for Cats has been used for pet enrichment in homes and shelters for years."

8. CAT ALONE – Cat Toy
