Netopia R-series, D-series and 4000-series Internet equipment offers the flexibility to update firmware either through the integrated TFTP client or an X-modem file transfer. In most cases, the TFTP client is easiest because it can be done remotely over the WAN or locally over the LAN. However, it requires that the equipment have a functioning Internet connection. If that is not available, an X-modem transfer using a terminal program of a binary file also works.
