Macromedia Central Publisher Description
Macromedia Central extends the reach of Flash rich Internet applications and content beyond the browser and into the desktop, making true cross-platform applications a reality. This offering builds on the strength of the Macromedia Flash development community, the AOL AIM and ICQ services for messaging and presence, and existing web standards.

The AIM SDK gives Central developers the ability to incorporate instant messaging and online presence detection in Central applications. The SDK provides APIs for the AOL messaging platform, unlocking AIM and ICQ for use in Central applications.

The Mozilla team has certainly been busy this week, updating both the Firefox browser and the Thunderbird mail client: Firefox got the Fashion My Firefox app, and Thunderbird was updated to version 2.0.0.18 The update is meant to address some security issues with the application, but I am glad to report that none of them have been deemed critical (this is the highest risk rating that Mozilla gives a security vulnerability)....

Lengthy Boot Time Vista Issues Taken to Court
The interesting thing is that it is not Microsoft that is in trouble, but the companies that use the Windows Vista operating system on their employees’ machines. It turns out that the employees of said companies spend prolonged amounts of time just waiting for the OS to boot and shut down; this has lead them to ask for overtime; when the companies refused to pay for overtime, the employees sued....

Moonlight Beta, the Microsoft Flash equivalent for Linux users
Microsoft is really not taking it easy at all on Adobe and their Flash player. Proof of that are the recent announcements that 2009 will debut with a third installment of Silverlight, and that Microsoft will continue its collaboration with Novell in order to further develop an open-source Silverlight equivalent that can be used by users running the Firefox browser on their Linux powered machines....

The final version of Silverlight 2, or the Flash killer as some like to call it, was made available to the general public a little over a month ago, on the 14th of October to be more precise.
