Redmond-based software giant Microsoft has made it quite easy for Windows 7 customers that have a local network to link they computers together. These Windows 7 users can create a HomeGroup and on that HomeGroup they can share files, folders and even printers. The process of creating a HomeGroup is quite easy – just see here. The process of sharing a printer over the HomeGroup is equally easy – just see here.
While creating a HomeGroup, Windows 7 will display a password. Microsoft advises you to write down that password as other Windows 7 users will need to provide it when they want to join the HomeGroup. But what if you do not write it down? Or what if you do write it down on a piece of paper and lose it? You don’t need to worry. You can easily view the HomeGroup password. Just follow the instructions presented below:
Step 1. Minimize all open windows. Better yet, close everything.
Step 2. Click the Start button, the Windows orb from the bottom left hand corner of the screen. Alternatively you could just press the Windows key on your keyboard (the one with the Microsoft logo on it).
Step 3. Click Control Panel from the Start Menu.
Step 4. In the search box type in homegroup -> now click HomeGroup.
Step 5. Under Other homegroup actions there’s a link that says View or print homegroup password. Click it.
Step 6. The HomeGroup password will be displayed.
