Use Picasa Keyboard Shortcuts in Mac OS X

Picasa is a piece of software that Google acquired back in ’04 and distributed to user all over the world free of charge. The functionality that Picasa offers is a simple one: you can organize and edit your photos/movies. You can for example fix red-eye, crop specific sections of an image, fix blemishes, create slideshows and so on. If you want to focus on what Picasa can do, a review is available here. Because as you may or may not know, most features and functions can be easily accessed through a keyboard shortcut – thus allowing you to use Picasa in a speedier and more convenient manner.

The keyboard shortcuts that you can use in Picasa are – grouped by category:

Advertising

Select Photos

Select all photos in folder/album - Command+A
Deselect photos - Command+D
Invert photo selection - Command+I
Select first photo in folder/album – fn+Left arrow
Select last photo in folder/album – fn+Right arrow
Hold selected photos in Photo Tray - Ctrl+H
Choose file on computer to display in Picasa - Ctrl+O

View Photos

View photos as small thumbnails - Command +1
View your photos as large thumbnails - Command +2
Start slideshow - Command +4
View image properties – Command+I
Locate photo file in Finder – Control+Enter

Edit Photos

Open image in Edit Mode - Command +3
Rotate image clockwise - Ctrl+R
Rotate image counter-clockwise - Ctrl+Shift+R
Flip image horizontally - Ctrl+Shift+H
Flip image vertically - Ctrl+Shift+V
Add black and white effect - Ctrl+Shift+B
Add/remove a star - Space
Rename file – fn+F3

Watch Videos

Pause/play video - / (slash)
Rewind video - , (comma)
Fast forward video - . (period)

Miscellaneous

Email selected photos - Ctrl+E
Print selected images - Ctrl+P
Print album contact sheet - Ctrl+Shift+P
Add tags to your photos - Ctrl+T
Create new album - Ctrl+N
Help – fn+F1
Exclude a photo when importing - X
Open the import room - Command +M
