As the Mountain View-based search engine giant explained, the Bookmark Sync feature is addressed to Chrome users that are always on the go – they use Chrome, but never on the same computer. For example they use Chrome on the desktop computer at home, on their laptop computer when they’re out and about, and on the company’s computer when they are at work. These users can keep all their bookmarks synchronized and up-to-date across the multiple computers they use thanks to Bookmark Sync. It is a lot better than manually recreating the bookmarks, I'll tell you that.
Here is what you have to do to start using Bookmark Sync in Google Chrome:
Step 1. Launch the Chrome browser.
Step 2. Click the wrench menu.
Step 3. Select Synchronize my bookmarks.
Step 4. Use your login credentials to sign into your Google Account.
Step 5. You will be prompted to confirm that your bookmarks will be merged together (only if you already enabled Bookmark Sync on another computer). Click Merge and sync.
Step 6. Click OK.
Tips and warnings
- Before you start using Bookmark Sync, ask yourself the following questions. If you answer yes to these questions, then it’s okay to start using Bookmark Sync.
- Do you have Chrome 4.0 installed on your computer?
- Do you have a Google Account?
- Do you access the same bookmarks on multiple computers?
- Don’t have a Google Account? Learn how to set one up by following the instructions presented in this tutorial.
- If the tutorial presented above did not clear things up for you, Program Manager with Google, Anthony Laforge, posted a video on YouTube here.
- Bookmark Sync can be enabled on as many computers as you want.
