After you partition and format your computer’s hard disk drive, you will undoubtedly proceed to installing the Microsoft developed Windows operating system on your machine. That is the first piece of software in a long list of software applications you will undoubtedly install over time. Some programs are a constant on your system, while others you will have a short lifespan. For example you hear about a new piece of software, want to try it out and install it – after you are done playing with it, you decide that you don’t want to keep it. The proper way to dispose of that software app is to uninstall it from your Windows OS.

Tips and warnings
Please note that not all software applications come with an remove/uninstall option. Your safest bet is to use the Control Panel uninstall option presented above.
Even though you uninstall a program, some traces of it may be left behind on your hard disk.
Some software applications allow you to save certain data after you uninstall them – save games, profile data, etc.
Be careful not to uninstall programs that are vital to the operating system.
