Speed Up Firefox

The Mozilla developed Firefox browser is already a pretty fast piece of software but there are some tricks that you can use and speed it up a bit more. This is precisely what I have decided to present below – a step by step tutorial on how to increase your Firefox browser’s speed. Here goes:

Step 1. Launch the Mozilla developed Firefox browser.

Step 2. The address bar is located at the top – it’s the place where you type in web addresses. This time y ou need to type in about:config

Step 3. Click I’ll be careful, I promise!

Step 4. In the Filter tab type in network.http.pipelining. Double click the result -> set the value to True.

Step 5. Type in network.http.pipelining.maxrequests in the Filter tab-> double click -> set value to 10.

Step 6. Right click -> New -> String -> name the new string nglayout.initialpaint.delay -> set value to 0 (zero).

Step 7. Restart the Firefox browser and you’re done.

Here is a brief explanation of what happened: you just instructed Firefox to accept more packets transfers, increased the maximum amount of packet requests to 10, and removed the display delay (which by default is set to 250 milliseconds). Then you restarted the browser so that the changes would take effect.

Tips and warnings
If you would like to use Firefox in a speedier manner, then perhaps you should check out a list of Firefox keyboard shortcuts. One is available here.
Before you start changing the default settings of the web browser, ask yourself one question: Do I really want to do this? You may not want to modify the Firefox browser because the benefits do not outweigh the risks for example – risks that arise from the fact that you do not have the IT skills to be messing about with the inner workings of the browser. Alternatively you may not want to change anything because Firefox is already a very speedy web browser.
