When it comes to playing music in the background (be it at work or at home), my media player of choice Nullsoft’s Winamp. I have a long list of radio stations on the playlist, so I just start the music, minimize Winamp to the system tray and go about my business. I use Winamp for its most basic of functions, bust rest assured that the media player has a lot more up its sleeve. Click here to see a detailed review of Winamp; it includes pretty much all the things you can do with Winamp.

Getting back to the purpose of this tutorial, I recently upgraded to Windows 7. Since I was not a Vista fan, I could not perform an in-place upgrade; I had to perform a custom installation (which is basically a fresh operating system installation). After the installation process was complete, I started fiddling with Windows 7. I played with the settings a bit and I installed all my “must have” applications - including Winamp.

But much to my dismay, I realized that I had forgotten to save my playlist. The playlist that included all my favorite radio stations. Now I’m going to have to rebuild it. Too bad it did not save my playlist beforehand. It would have taken but a second. After all, here are the steps you must follow to save a playlist in Winamp.

Step 1. Launch the Winamp media player.

Step 2. Press Ctrl + S

Step 3. The Save Playlist window will appear. Select the location where you would like to save your playlist -> click Save and you’re done.
