With Firefox for example, if you visit the same page over and over again, it will immediately be displayed in the AwesomeBar – for example if I just type in F in the AwesomeBar (the address bar), the link to FindMySoft immediately appears. This is an example of a feature that makes the user experience more pleasurable. But what does it have to do with Microsoft and the latest version of its operating system, windows 7?

Chances are that you will search for certain files on a regular basis – just like you visit certain webpages regularly. Windows 7 lets you save these searches. There are in fact several ways to save searches in Windows 7. Here they are:

Method 1. Search for the items that interests you -> at any time press the Save Search button from the upper left hand corner of the Explorer window. The searches will be saved and you’ll be able to see them in Explorer -> Favorites.

Method 2. Search for the items that interest you -> drag the search icon from the address bar to the listed favorites list.

Tips and warnings
  • For added convenience, you can put a shortcut on your desktop, for the saved searches that you access quite frequently.
  • If you bough a new Wndows 7 PC from an OEM, chances are that it came with a lot of bloatware / crapware (trial software that comes preinstalled with the PC). You can easily replace the bloatware with something useful – see here. Or you could get a Windows 7 PC that is completely bloatware-free. Microsoft said that Windows 7 PC sold though its chain of retail stores will not feature any bloatware/crapware.
  • Some tasks can be performed in Windows 7 with no need for 3rd party software, tasks like increasing or decreasing the size of a partition and burning data onto CDs or DVDs.
