If you don’t particularly want to receive messages from certain Yahoo! Messenger contacts, you can always add them to the Ignore List. Adding people to the Ignore List is just one of the means you can use to protect your privacy in Yahoo! Messenger. But what happens if you no longer want to ignore a user? You can simply remove that user from the Ignore List.

Here are the steps you must follow to remove people from the Ignore List in Yahoo! Messenger:

Step 1. Launch Yahoo! Messenger -> sign into Yahoo! Messenger.

Step 2. Click Messenger (the top left hand corner) -> in the dropdown menu that appears select Preferences.

Step 3. In the Yahoo! Messenger Preferences window -> under Category -> click Ignore List.

Step 4. Locate the ID of the user you no longer want to ignore -> keep that ID in mind -> now click Remove -> click OK.

Step 5. You should now add that contact back to your Messenger List. In this regard you could do one of the following:
Click the Add a Contact button from the bottom left hand corner of the screen
Click Action -> select Add a Contact
Use the Ctrl + Shift + A keyboard shortcut

Tips and warnings

• In the Ignore List you can check the Ignore everyone who is not on my Messenger List option. This means that anyone who you’ve removed from your contacts list will automatically be ignored. It also means that to stop ignoring a user you need only add him or her to the contacts list.
• During step 5 I mentioned that you could use a keyboard shortcut to add a contact. There are several other keyboard shortcuts that you could use in Yahoo! Messenger. If you want to see a detailed, comprehensive list just click here.
