Mountain View-based search engine giant Google developed Web History to enhance the user experience. In this regard, Google Account holders can do the following via Web History:
- They can view and manage a list of all the searches they performed; view and manage a list of sites they visited after they searched for something via Google.
- Get more relevant search results because Google takes into consideration all the data stored in Web Search (previous searches, sites the user visited after performing a search).
- They can take a look at the trends Google has spotted in their web activity.
There is one more thing that Google Account holders can do; they can remove items from Web History. For example you can remove specific searches and specific sites you accessed after you performed that search. Or you can delete all the data Web History has saved so far.
Here is what you have to do to remove items from Google Web History:
Step 1. If you’re already signed into your Google Account, just click here. If you’re not signed in, click the link anyway –> a new tab will open -> type in your login credentials and log into Web History.
Alternatively you can access the My Account page -> under My products click Web History -> type in your login credentials if asked to and click Sign in.
Step 2. In the left hand side of the window there’s the All History section. In this section there’s a link that says Remove Items. What you must do now is click Remove items.
Step 3. Depending on what you want to do, follow the instructions below.
To remove a specific item from Web Search, check the box next to that item -> then click Remove.
To remove all the items you see in the window, click Select All (bottom of the page) -> then click Remove.
To remove all the items in Web Search, everything that Web Search has saved so far, click Clear entire Web History. The following message will appear: “Are you sure you want to clear your entire web history? Your web history will also be paused.” Click Clear History.
