When you hit the minimize button in BitTorrent, the application hides away in the System Tray. When you hit the close button (the red one), the application hides in the System Tray as well. This can be annoying. To really close BitTorrent you then have to right click the System Tray icon and click Exit. With a simple tweak you can change this default behavior in BitTorrent so that when you click the close button it will really close (as opposed to hiding away in the System Tray).
Here are the steps you must follow to get BitTorrent to really close:
Step 1. Launch the BitTorrent software application.
Step 2. From the list of menus in the top left hand corner of the window, click Options.
Step 3. From the dropdown menu that appears, click Preferences.
Step 4. In the Preferences window click the UI Settings tab.
Step 5. In the System Tray section uncheck the box next to Close to Tray.
Step 6. Click Apply -> click OK and you’re done. The next time you will click the close button, BitTorrent will really close. Click the minimize button and BitTorrent will minimize to the system tray.
Tips and warnings
2 – The first time you click the close program button, the Do you really want to exit BitTorrent? notification will appear. Uncheck the box next to Always perform this check.
