The regular user will rarely if ever access the Administrative Tools available in the Windows 7 operating system. But power users and system administrators will access the Administrative Tools quite often. These users might want to put Administrative Tools in the Start Menu so they’ll be able to easily access the tools.
Putting Administrative Tools in the Start Menu is such a straightforward process that even a novice user could pull it off in no time at all. Below is a detailed, step-by-step guide on how to achieve this goal. Just follow the instructions presented there and in a couple of minutes you will have Administrative Tools in the Start Menu.
Here is what you have to do to add Administrative Tools to the Windows 7 Start Menu:
Step 1. Right click the Taskbar and select Properties.
Alternatively you can click Start -> right click an empty space in the Start Menu -> click Properties.
Step 2. Click the Start Menu tab from the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window that appears.
Step 3. Now click the Customize button from the right hand side of the window.
Step 4. Under System administrative tools check the box next to Display on the All Programs menu and the Start Menu.
Step 5. Click OK and you’re done. Don’t forget to close any remaining open windows.
When you click the Windows orb from the bottom left hand side (a.k.a. the Start button) you will notice that Administrative Tools are displayed in the Start Menu.

- Windows XP users would easily access Administrative Tools by typing in compmgmt.msc in Run. The Run command is no longer displayed in the Start Menu in Windows 7. It is not displayed by default that is. You can put Run back in the Start Menu (see here).
