There are several ways to preview open windows in the latest version of the Microsoft developed operating system, Windows 7. You can preview open windows by using the taskbar, by using Aero Flip 3D and by using the Alt + Tab key combination.
By default, Windows 7 will group together multiple instances of the same program or multiple files opened with the same program in the taskbar. You can preview items in the taskbar by following the instructions presented below:
Step 1. Place the mouse cursor over a taskbar button.
Step 2. Thumbnails of the open windows grouped under that taskbar button will appear. Place mouse cursor over a thumbnail to see a preview – all other open windows will fade out temporarily.
Click the thumbnail and that window will open.
Step 3. Move mouse cursor away from the thumbnail to return to the previous view.
Step 1. Press the Start or Windows key on your keyboard (the one with the Microsoft logo on it).
Step 2. With your finger pressed on the Windows key, press Tab to open Flip 3D. A preview of all the open windows will appear.
Step 3. Press Tab to switch between previews (keep the Windows buttons pressed).
Step 4. To close Flip 3, release the Windows and the Tab key. To display the window in front of the stack, release the Windows key.
Step 1. Press Ctrl + Windows key + Tab and Flip 3D will open and will stay open.
Step 2. Press Tab or arrow keys to cycle through window previews.
Step 3. Close Flip 3D by pressing Esc.
This is similar to Aero Flip 3 previews.
Step 1. Press Alt on the keyboard and keep it pressed.
Step 2. Press Tab repeatedly to switch between previews.
Alternatively you can press Ctrl + Alt + Tab -> then switch through previews by pressing Tab -> press Esc to close and Enter to open a window.
