Manage Security Warning Messages in Firefox 3.5

Out of all the various Firefox versions, the latest 3.5 version is by far the safest – and fastest, and has more features than previous versions, and takes the issue of privacy very seriously. The browser will try to keep you as safe as possible by protecting you from malware spreading sites, by blocking reported attack sites, by blocking reported web forgeries and so on. The browser will also display all sorts of security warning messages – some are enabled by default, some are not. Here I will show you how to manage these security warnings.

Step 1. The first thing you need to do is launch the web browser.

Step 2. In the upper part of the Firefox window there’s a list of menus -> click Tools.

Step 3. In the dropdown menu that appears click Options (it’s the last menu at the bottom).

Step 4. The Options window should have popped up. From the list of tabs at the top, click the one that says Security (has an padlock-like icon).

Step 5. If you want Firefox to warn you if a site tries to install an add-on, check the box next to Warn me when sites try to install add-ons. This one may be enabled by default.

Step 6. The Block reported attack sites and Block reported web forgeries options may be checked by default. If they are not, check the box next to these options now.

Step 7. To activate/deactivate several other security prompts, look down at the Warning Messages section -> click Settings. You can now enable any of these warning messages:
I am about to view and encrypted page
I am about to view a page the uses low-grade encryption
I leave an encrypted page for one that isn’t encrypted
I leave an encrypted page for one that isn’t encrypted
I submit information that’s not encrypted
I’m about to view an encrypted page that contains some unencrypted information

Click OK when you are done.

Step 8. In the Options window click OK and you’re done.
