So you’ve decided to give the Google developed Chrome browser a shot. After all, you wanted to see what the deal is with the browser that is touted as having the fastest JavaScript out there. If you did install Chrome on your system, then surely you noticed that it asked to become your default web browser – on several occasions.
The first time Chrome asked to become the default web browser was when you installed it. As we’ve said in the How to Install Chrome tutorial, when you got to step 4, you could uncheck the box next to Make Google Chrome the default browser. At the time you surely wanted just to install and test the browser; so making it the default browser was something you weren’t ready for.
The second time Chrome asked to become the default web browser was when it launched (right after the installation process was complete). At the time a Google Chrome isn’t your default browser notification appeared; and since we know you weren’t ready to set Chrome as the default, we’ll go ahead and assume you clicked the Don’t ask again button.
Now Google Chrome has grown on you and you would like to set it as the default browser on your system. You need not worry about having unchecked the Make Google Chrome the default browser box when you installed the software; you need not worry about clicking the Don’t ask again button either, because making Chrome your default browser is a fairly simple process. Just follow the instructions presented below.
Step 1. Launch the Chrome browser.
Step 2. Click the wrench menu -> from the dropdown menu click Options.
Step 2. Click the Basics tab.
Step 3. In the Default browser section click the Make Google Chrome my default browser button.
Step 4. Click Close and you’re done.
