Setting up a Gmail account is a pretty straightforward process as we’ve seen in this tutorial. You could always contact your friends and tell them about Gmail and how much great functionality the Google developed email client provides. Or you could send a invitation from within Gmail. This is a pretty straightforward process as well; follow the instructions presented below and you should be okay.

Here is what you have to do:

Step 1. Go to Gmail (click here – a new tab will open), enter your login credentials and click Sign in. If you’re already logged into your Google Account, then you need not enter any login credentials. Gmail will load automatically.

Step 2. In the bottom left hand corner of the screen there’s a Invite a friend box. Type in one of your friend’s email address.

Step 3. Now you could simply press Send Invite and be done with it. But I would press Preview Invite instead.

Step 4. The Gmail Invitations window will pop up. There are just two sections in it. The section above is where you can type in the email addresses of all the people you would like to invite to Gmail. Enter their email addresses like this: Username@mail.com, Username2@mail.com, Username3@mail.com I’ve tried to enter them one underneath the other and it did not work.

The section below is where you can type in the invitation message. The default message is:
I've been using Gmail and thought you might like to try it out. Here's an invitation to create an account.”
You can edit that message if you want to.

Step 5. Press Send Invites and you’re done. Your friend(s) will receive an email message that contains your invitation message, some facts about Gmail, and a link to register for a new, free Gmail account.

Tips and warnings
  • Please note that the number of invitations you can send out is limited.
