Install Yahoo! Widgets
Yahoo! Widgets are free pieces of software that you can use on your Windows or Mac OS X-powered machine. Yahoo! Widgets are based on a JavaScript runtime environment and an XML interpreter to display free floating, small applications on top of the user’s desktop. These apps can be dragged and dropped anywhere on the screen. Additional options allow you to change the size and the look of the widget.
If we were to compare Yahoo! Widgets to another similar product we would have to compare them to the Gadgets in Windows 7. Or the software apps in the Windows Vista Sidebar.
Here is what you have to do to install Yahoo! widgets on your Windows-powered machine:
Step 1. The first thing you need to do is download the Yahoo! Widgets setup executable. Just click here, save the .exe file to your computer (preferably the desktop so that you can easily delete it after).
Step 2. Double click the Yahoo! Widgets setup executable.
Step 3. The Yahoo! Widgets Setup window should have popped up. Click Next.
Step 4. By default Yahoo! Widgets will be installed in this folder:
C:Program FilesYahoo!Widgets
If you are okay with that, simply click Next. If you want to change the destination folder, click Browse, select the location you want to install Yahoo! Widgets, click Ok and then click Next.
Step 5. You must now confirm your actions. Click Install and you will confirm that you want to install Yahoo! Widgets.
Step 6. After you click Install the installation process will begin. This is the part where you have to wait for the process to complete, so be patient. It may take a while.
Step 7. Once the installation process is complete, click Close and Yahoo! Widgets will be launched automatically.
Step 8. The Yahoo! Widgets License Agreement will pop up. Click I Accept to proceed. Yahoo! Widgets will be launched.
Step 9. A few default widgets will be launched. You can get more widgets by right clicking the Widgets icon in the system tray -> click Get More Widgets.
Tips and warnings
During step 5, in the bottom left hand corner of the screen there are two checkboxes: Set my homepage to www.yahoo.com and Set my default search engine to Yahoo! These options are checked by default. Make sure to uncheck them if you do not want to set your homepage and default search engine to Yahoo!
