There are plenty of media players out there that you can download and install on your computer, so why would you go for something like VLC (VideoLAN Client)? Here are several reasons that should convince you do install this piece of software:
- It is open-source, which means that you can get it fro free.
- It is cross-platform, which means it will work on several platforms, including Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. In this tutorial we will focus on installing the Windows-specific version though.
- It will play pretty much any media format right out of the box. To tell you the truth, ever since VLC reached version 1.0, I’ve been so pleased with it that I haven’t used anything else.
These 3 reasons should be enough to convince you, but if they are not, check out a detailed VLC review here

If you decide to install VLC on your Windows-powered computer, here are the steps you have to follow.

Step 1. The first thing you need to do is download the setup executable. You can get it straight from FindMySoft by clicking here. A new tab will open -> click Download -> then click Download version…

Step 2. Save the setup executable on your computer. Preferably on the desktop as it will be easier to delete it after the installation process is complete. When the download is complete double click the setup executable.

Step 3. The Installer Language window will show up. This is when you get to choose the language for the installation process. If you’re happy with English just click OK. If you want to install VLC in another language, select it from the dropdown menu and then click OK.

Step 4. The Setup Wizard window will appear. Click Next.

Step 5. The License Agreement will show up next. Just click I Agree.

Step 6. You will now be asked to select the components you would like to install. I would suggest you leave things as they are and just click Next, especially if you are not exactly an IT savvy computer user.

Step 7. Select the folder where VLC will be installed. By default, the folder path is C:Program FilesVideoLANVLC. If you’re happy with that just click Next. If you want it to be installed in another location, click Browse -> select the new folder path -> click OK.

Step 8. Click Install. The progress bar indicates how much time is left until VLC is installed.

Step 9. Click Finish and you’re done. If you left the boxes next to Run VLC media player and Show Readme checked, the media player will launch automatically and so will the Read Me file.
