Install BitTorrent
If you want to download data from P2P file sharing networks and torrent sites like The Pirate Bay or Mininova, you need to get a BitTorrent client (a software application that handles the BitTorrent protocol). And here is where BitTorrent comes in - it is a free, open source file-sharing application that can be used for downloading and distributing very large software and media files.
Without any further ado, here is a detailed step-by-step guide on how to install BitTorrent on your Windows-powered computer:
Step 1. The first thing you need to do is download the setup executable. You can get it straight from FindMySoft, just click here -> save the .exe file on your computer (preferably on your desktop so it is quite easy to delete it after the installation process is complete.
Step 2. Double click the setup executable you previously downloaded to your computer.
Step 3. The BitTorrent Setup Wizard will pop up. Just click Next.
Step 4. You will be presented with a warning about how you should download BitTorrent software from trusted sources. Click Next.
Step 5. The License Agreement comes up next. Read it and then click I Agree. It’s not like you have a choice here, if you do not agree, you cannot install BitTorrent. It’s as simple as that.
Step 6. You will now have to choose the location where BitTorrent will be installed. The default destination folder is C:Program FilesBitTorrent. If you’re okay with that, just click Next. If you want to install BitTorrent somewhere else, click Browse -> select the new location in the window that pops up -> click OK.
Step 7. You will now have to choose a Start Menu folder for the BitTorrent shortcuts. The default one is entitled BitTorrent. I would suggest leaving it unchanged -> now click Next.
Step 8. You are now asked to support BitTorrent by installing the Ask.com toolbar. My default, these options are turned on:
Set my homepage to Ask.com
Make Ask.com my default search provider
I accept the License Agreement and Privacy Policy and want to install the Ask.com Toolbar
You could just leave the options alone and click Install. But if you are happy with your current homepage and search provider, then you should opt out (uncheck the box next to Set my homepage to Ask.com and next to Make Ask.com my default search provider). Additionally, if you do not want to install the Ask.com toolbar, opt out by unchecking the box next to I accept the License Agreement and Privacy Policy and want to install the Ask.com Toolbar. Now click Install.
Step 8. After you click Install, the installation process will begin. Wait for it to complete (check the progress bar).
Step 9. Once the installation process is complete, you need only click Finish and you’re done. In the BitTorrent Setup Complete window two options are enabled by default
Run BitTorrent – leaving this option enabled means that once you click Finish, BitTorrent will launch.
Create shortcut to BitTorrent on the Desktop - leaving this option enabled means that once you click Finish, a BitTorrent shortcut will be created on your desktop.
Step 10. When you run BitTorrent for the first time it will ask you if Would you like to make BitTorrent the default torrent application? Click Yes if you do, click No if you don’t.
BitTorrent will always checks to see if it is the default torrent application unless you uncheck the box next to Always perform this check (only applies to those of you that do not want to set BitTorrent as the default).
