Use Keyboard Shortcuts in Winamp

If you are looking for a properly good media player that has more than 20,000 skins, more than 450 plug-ins, and a robust file-management system amongst other things, then Winamp is the software application for you. If you want to see just what the software has to offer, we’ve taken the time to review it (see here). Now we would like to address the need for speed – what I mean by that is the need to use Winamp speedily by taking advantage of the keyboard shortcuts the Nullsoft developed software provides.

General Winamp keyboard shortcuts:

Ctrl+F1 - About Winamp
Ctrl+A - Toggle Always on Top (not available in playlist editor and media library)
Ctrl+Alt+A - Toggle always on top in the playlist editor
Ctrl+W - Toggle Windowshade mode
Ctrl+D - Toggle Doublesize Mode
Ctrl+E - Toggle Easymove (classic skin only)
Ctrl+T - Toggle Time Display Mode
Alt+W - Toggle Main Window
Alt+E - Toggle Playlist Editor
Alt+G - Toggle Graphical Equalizer
Alt+V - Toggle Video Window
Alt+L - Toggle Media Library
Ctrl+Tab – Switch between windows
Alt+S - Skin selection
Ctrl+P - Preferences
Alt+F - Main Menu
Alt+K - Configure current visualization plug-in
Ctrl+Shift+K - Start/stop current visualization plug-in
Ctrl+K - Open visualization plug-in the preferences section
Ctrl+J - Jump to a certain time in the track
J - Jump-to-file box (jump to a certain track)
Ctrl+Alt+N - New Winamp instance
Alt+M - Minimize
Ctrl+H - Show recently played files or streams

R - Repeat
S - Shuffle
Alt+3 - File info box/tag editor
Z - Previous Track
X - Play/Restart/Unpause
C - Pause/Unpause
V - Stop
Shift+V - Stop with fadeout
Ctrl+V - Stop after current track
B - Next Track
L - Open/Play File
Ctrl+L - Open/Play location
Shift+L - Open/Play Directory
Left Arrow - Rewind 5 seconds
Right Arrow - Fast-forward 5 seconds
Up Arrow - Volume Up
Down Arrow - Volume Down
Keypad 1- Jump 10 songs back
Keypad 6 - Next track
Keypad 5 - Play/Restart/Unpause
Keypad 4 - Previous track
Keypad 3 - Jump 10 Songs Forward
Keypad 7 - Rewind 5 seconds
Keypad 9 - Fast-forward 5 seconds
Keypad 8 - Volume Up
Keypad 2 - Volume Down
Keypad 0 - Open/Play File
Ctrl+0 (zero) - Open/Play location
Insert - Open/Play directory

R- Toggle Repeat
S- Toggle Shuffle
L- Add file
Ctrl+L - Add location
Shift+L - Add directory
Ctrl+N - New playlist/Clear playlist
Ctrl+O – Open/load playlist
Ctrl+S - Save playlist
Alt+3 - View/edit track info (selected track(s) only)
Ctrl+E- Edit track’s filename
Ctrl+ 0 - Add location
Insert - Add directory

Ctrl+A - Select all files in the playlist
Ctrl+I - Invert selection in the playlist
Delete - Remove files in the playlist
Ctrl+Delete - Crop Playlist
Ctrl+Shift+Del - Clear Playlist (just like the Ctrl+N shortcut above)
Alt+Down Arrow - Move selected files down
Alt+Up Arrow - Move selected files up
Down Arrow- Move cursor down
Up Arrow - Move cursor up
Enter - Play selected file
End - Jump to end of list
Home - Jump to start of list
Page Up - Move up by a fifth of a page
Page Down - Move down by a fifth of a page
Alt+Delete - Remove missing files from playlist

Ctrl+Shift+1 - Sort playlist by title
Ctrl+Shift+2 - Sort playlist by file name
Ctrl+Shift+3 - Sort playlist by file path and name
Ctrl+R - Reverse playlist
Ctrl+Shift+R - Randomize playlist

Equalizer Winamp keyboard shortcuts

1 through 0 - Increase equalizer bands
Q through P - Decrease equalizer bands
` - Increase equalizer preamp
TAB - Decrease equalizer preamp
N – Toggle equalizer enabled
A - Toggle equalizer auto-loading
S - Open presets menu
Ctrl+S - Load preset
