Install Internet Explorer 8
The latest version of the Microsoft developed Internet Explorer (IE) web browser is IE8. Since it is superior to IE7 and definitely superior to the outdated but still supported IE6, you are very well advised to download this free piece of software and install it on your PC. If you don’t know how to do this, we will guide you step by step. Just follow the steps presented below and you should be just fine.
Step 1. You will need to get the IE8 executable. You can get it straight from Microsoft here. Make sure select you get the .exe that fits your specific needs – select your location and the Windows version you have.
Step 2. Save the IE8 exe to your computer by clicking Download. Preferably you will want to save it to the desktop and then delete it after the installation process is complete.
Step 3. Double click the IE8 .exe file you just downloaded.
Step 4. When the Install Windows Internet Explorer window appears, you will be asked to help Microsoft gather some telemetry. In this regard you can either check I want to help improve Internet Explorer or I do not want to participate right now. After you make your selection, click Next.
Step 5. The License Agreement will pop up next. Click I accept.
Step 6. The Get the latest updates window will pop up. Check the box next to Install updates if you want to get updates for Windows, IE and the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool. Click Next. The installation process will begin. Be patient as it may take a while. Also, it may be necessary to restart your machine.
Step 7. After the installation process is complete, launch IE8. You will be greeted with a first-run setup wizard. See the images below.

Turn On Suggested Sites

Choose your settings: Express/Custom

Choose a default search provider: Live Search/Other

Search Provider Updates

Default Accelerators

Turn on SmartScreen Filter

Change your default browser: IE8/Other

Compatibility Settings: Enable updates

Step 8. Click Finish and you’re done.
Tips and warnings
If you choose Ask me later when the first run setup wizard launches, you can use IE8 normally. The wizard will return 24 hours later and ask for your input again. Best deal with it right away and get it out the way.
