Help Mozilla Make Firefox Better with Test Pilot
As the development process of the Firefox browser moved forward and the software application moved from version 2.X to 3.0 and now 3.5, the Mozilla Foundation kept on pushing the same “make it better” principle. Consequently version 3.5 of the Firefox browser is better and faster than all previous versions – just click here for a detailed list of features.
If you would like Mozilla’s software applications to get better over time, your feedback is more than welcomed. IF you want Mozilla to make Firefox better, then you will have to provide some telemetry. You know, take part in some test and then upload the results to Mozilla. This is where Test Pilot comes in.
As the Mozilla Foundation explained when Test Pilot was launched, it is “an opt-in program that everyone on the Web can join to improve the Web experience by participating in usability related tests. When you install the Test Pilot add-on, you will automatically become a Mozilla Labs’ Test Pilot, and you will receive the notice for upcoming tests. You will have the option to quit tests or leave the platform. If the test requires you to install a new feature or product, the platform will ask for your permission. At the end of these experiments, you can choose whether or not to submit your test data.”
Here is what you have to do to become a Test Pilot and help Mozilla make Firefox better:
Step 1. First of all you will need to get the Test Pilot add-on. Just click this link and you will be directed to the official Firefox add-on webpage.
Step 2. On the page that opens up, simply click Add to Firefox -> click Install Now.
Step 3. When the installation process is complete you will have to restart the browser. When the browser is back up and running you will notice an icon in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Click it to see various info about Test Pilot.
You will now be able to participate in various tests that will help the Mozilla Foundation improve Firefox.
